I walk 1.35 miles round trip to pick up my Catalpa Ridge vegetables every Tuesday from Umami Girl's garage.
Jamie walks 1.78 miles.
Neither of us have a gym membership, or cars for that matter. All that walking (and carrying those heavy vegetables back to our apartments) is definitely beneficial exercise, not to mention good for the environment.

Had a similar walk to the farmers market in Chicago. I would use my rolling cart, you just have to be careful how you load it (don't want to leave a trail of blueberries down the sidewalk).
I don't have a gym, but I do have the unfortunate SUV. But I walk everywhere, and I run five miles a day without vegetables. And I don't work outside the home, so I use like zero gas.
I think I'm ecologically sound, too.
